We’re glad you stopped by to visit us. World Clown Association has fun and learning in store for you.
The WCA Jr. Joey Program was designed for children ages 5-15 to develop a stable foundation of skills for them to move on when
they reach age 16 into the adult world of clowning. The WCA Jr. Joey program is a team building development process and is also a
self-esteem building process. WCA wants the Jr. Joeys to be prepared when they enter the adult world of clowning. Of course our
number one goal is for the Jr. Joeys to have fun at the convention and as they perform in their own home town.
We have a Jr. Joey Program at our International Convention, usually held in the Spring. It’s never in the same place, we keep moving
around the United States and in other countries every year.
The Jr. Joey Program is a special program just for children, ages five to fifteen. At the convention the adults have their own classes
and you have your own classes in your own classroom. We have professional instructors who love children and teach you everything
from how to apply your own make-up, juggling, skits, face painting, character development, and on and on and on.
We have a pizza party together and a scavenger hunt. We also have an “On Time” drawing where you could win prizes for showing
up to class on time. There is free time scheduled and if the hotel has a swimming pool, you can go swimming. There is competition
for Jr. Joeys where you apply your own make-up (you will learn how in class) and costume and stand before the judges along with all
the other Jr. Joeys. There is a theme for the convention and you can get dressed up and come to the party. You will meet friends
from all around the world.
We have a Jr. Joey scholarship program that you can fill out the application (application available here) and send it in along with your
photo and you could win a free registration to the convention.
All Jr. Joeys have to attend with a parent/guardian. The adults do not attend the Jr. Joey Program. We have a banquet on the last
evening. You can wear your dressy clothes and eat dinner while waiting to see if you were one of the competition winners!
